How you
can make a difference
Giving your time to help educate your community about organ and tissue
donation can be a gratifying experience. Some of the ways to accomplish
this include:
- Speak at a civic organization meeting or worship service about the
need for donor organs.
- Hang Life Connection of Ohio posters in prominent places throughout
the community.
- Deliver brochures and enrollment forms about the Ohio Donor Registry
to clinics and doctor's offices.
- Submit information about donation in a community or civic group newsletter.
- Write an editorial for your local newspaper.
- Contact local media about stories on organ donation.
- Staff a display booth at a local health fair.
- Encourage your employer to participate in the Workplace Partnership
Program.
- Recommend an educational program on organ donation for after school
programs.
- Write your local governmental representatives about organ donation
issues.
- Wear donation friendly promotional items every day, such as t-shirts,
hats and pins.
- Display organ donation messages on cars and other means of transportation.
- Plan an awareness activity in your community.
- Encourage family doctors to talk with their patients about organ and
tissue donation.
- Organize an awareness day at a local athletic contest.
- Distribute green ribbon awareness pins to schools, civic groups and
places of worship.
- Hold an event to encourage people to join the Ohio Donor Registry.
- Talk with your family about your decision to be an organ and tissue
donor.
